Teamsters Strike Jeffboat, Company Vows Replacements

After striking in 2002 for two and a half months, Teamsters-represented workers at Jeffboat are back out on the picket lines...
Negotiations broke down after Jeffboat came to the table with a final offer.  The union rejected it, and no new talks have been scheduled. Fred Zuckerman, Teamsters Local 89 President, says the union is "ready and willing" to meet with the company again.

Jeffboat recently laid off or furloughed about five hundred workers.  The company is expected to bring in replacements during the strike. Calls to a Jeffboat spokesperson have not been returned so far.
